Academics at Rolla Christian Academy
Our desire is for students to
- have an openness to questions,
- encouragement to seek God’s Word for answers,
- develop a Biblical perspective,
- have opportunities to pray when desired, and
- develop wisdom and discernment
Staff will
- take advantage of teachable moments in the classroom as they teach creation science, accurate history, language arts, math, art, music, and Bible.
- seek to meet students at the student’s individual level, and help them succeed at their own pace, with encouragement each step of the way, so that students become confident, learn how to learn, and love learning.
By having a grace-based teaching environment, but with known consequences for breaking known rules; there should be security, peace, and an atmosphere to foster learning.
The day will begin with worship, prayer and a Bible lesson for everyone. Most or all ages will meet together for short not-too-long teachings on some subjects,followed by application assignments (some are hands on) that can be done individually at different levels. An assistant will be available to help students with their assignments or supervise learning centers – while the teacher leads students who are in similar levels in their math and language arts lessons. There will be opportunities to move around and go outside at times throughout the day. Students will bring their own lunches but healthy snacks will be provided at least once each day.

Same as Kindergarten description. For all ages, hands on and movement time is a part of the agenda so that children can fulfill their need to be active; and being comfortable, just as adults also prefer, takes precedence over sitting still for long periods of time.

Music & The Arts
In addition to worship, students will learn about music and will learn age-appropriate songs that are in keeping with the RCA statement of faith. Opportunities will also be provided for students to create art on a regular basis as part of their daily assignments and more.
Faith
All subjects have faith integrated into the lessons. Additionally, there will be a daily time of Bible teaching, worship and prayer. The RCA statement of faith and associated Bible references available on this website form the basis of what will be taught. While there may be some differences in interpretation of the Bible, the desire is to encourage the respect and unity God desires.
